The web is fantastic for checking out locations anywhere in the world. Google Maps is a great tool for not only checking out locations, but also providing "turn by turn" directions.
Here is an example: Let's say you want to go from O'hare airport in Chicago to Wrigley Field. To get directions, do the following: - Go to Google Maps
- In the search box at the top of the map, type O'Hare Airport and click on the magnifying glass
- A map of O'Hare Airport will appear. Click on the "A" marker showing the location of O'Hare Airport on the map.
- In the window that pops up, click on the "Directions" link
- You'll see on the left side, A & B boxes appear, with the address of O'Hare Airport in one box. Box A is where you are departing from, and Box B is where you want to go.
- If the O'Hare address is in the B box, click the "up/down" arrows to the right of the boxes, and it will move the address to Box A
- In Box B type in "Wrigley Field" and hit enter.
- You will see a hilighted line showing you the path to take. On the left side, is a "turn-by-turn" listing of directions to get from O'Hare to Wrigley Field.
That's it! You know have a set of directions, with a map, you can print out and use.
Additional Tip: The hilighted path can be revised if you happen to want to take a specific route. To do this, do the following: - Place mouse cursor on the hilighted line. You'll see a "drag to change" box appear.
- Hold Left mouse button down, and drag line to where you want it to go... the line will "reroute" to the nearest road(s)
- The directions on the left side change to reflect the new route!
